To convey a deep emotion and question the relationship between the artist and the model. The Kellynoid, an enigmatic golem, plays with the viewer and modestly reveals itself to their gaze. The viewer, directing beams of light with their hands, creates an interdependence between themselves and the Kellynoid, a relationship that questions how we look and are looked at.
In the era of virtual reality and digitization, we explore common themes such as freedom and autonomy through the figure of the muse, thus updating the myth of Pygmalion, creating a work of art that translates this unique, intimate, and complex bond that forms when the artist meets the body of their model to make it a body/work.
The creation process of Line was long and complex and served as a prototype for the development of the latest version of Taupipeline, Taupistools, and Taupemodele. Together, we try to find the bodily, gestural, cognitive, and sensory elements most suitable for being digitized and transformed into computer data, then reinterpreted by our sensibilities to make it a personal work.
In short, Line is a virtual reality installation that holds particular importance for us, firstly because it is the first of this new creation process, and secondly because it questions our relationship to the body, beauty, and the other.
It was presented at the recto/verso festival during the recto verso 2023 and recto verso 2024 virtual reality exhibition. It was the subject of a research article for the 3AI 2024 conference.
